For county jail custody questions, contact the Santa Cruz County Main Jail at 259 Water Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, or call (831) 454-7800. The Sheriff’s published research does not state fixed records-counter hours, so confirm availability before visiting. For dated Sheriff records, use the official public-records page and NextRequest portal. Choose the office that created or now holds the record:
- For a mugshot, county booking record, roster entry, or request steps, begin with the county arrest-record guide and then contact the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.
- For current custody, use the Sheriff’s Web Jail Viewer or call Main Jail with the person’s full name and date of birth when possible.
- For a recent booking window, use Arrests Last 24 Hours; for agency reports approved or entered across several days, use the Police Blotter.
- For release or transfer alerts, use the Sheriff-linked California VINELink service. VINELink does not replace the jail’s current custody answer.
- For Santa Cruz, Watsonville, or Scotts Valley police incidents, contact that city’s police records unit. County jail custody remains a Sheriff function.
- For a sentenced state prisoner, search California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation CIRIS. For federal or immigration custody, use the federal Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator.
- For charges filed in court or final disposition, use Santa Cruz County Superior Court online services or its criminal records process.
